Library Learning Center

Students are encouraged to use the Lafayette Library. Each student is given a library card application which requires the signature of a parent or guardian. A library card will be issued to the student upon receipt of an appropriately signed application. Parents are financially responsible for books that are not returned to the Lafayette Library.

As a parent or family member, you are welcome to visit our library and check out a book too! We even have a selection of books just for parents! The selection of books includes topics such as assisting your child with homework, divorce, blending families, discipline, ADHD, family fun without the TV, and more. This year we had the grand opening of our new Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Library Project! Teachers at Lafayette reached out to the Community Schools initiative last year, hoping to create a space that would provide our DHH students with access to literacy that represented themselves as Deaf students. This summer we made this idea a reality, as the Lafayette Community Schools Initiative was able to purchase and organize all of these books and materials that represent Deaf characters, authors, or featuring American Sign Language. Our site principal Anne McCarty and Area Superintendent Maria Gomez were able to be apart of this amazing day, and showed acknowledgment of the special Deaf culture that makes Lafayette Elementary such a wonderful place of learning. Community Schools will continue to seek equity in everything that we do, and are proud to provide this space that will service not only DHH students, but all students at Lafayette for years to come.

Please stop by sometime and check out our selection.
